Pousada Tutabel

Trancoso, Atlantic Forest

Set on a quiet beach along the pristine coast of Trancoso, Pousada Tutabel offers an escape into unspoiled nature. Flanked by lush Atlantic Forest and steps away from the turquoise waters and soft sands of Itapororoca Beach, you’ll feel immersed in raw natural beauty, without trading off modern comforts. Designed with wood and accents of dried palm, the charming pousada complements its flourishing, verdant gardens.

The property’s suites and villa feel like private tropical hideaways, some with ocean views, and many with terraces bathed in lush jungle leaves. Interiors are elegantly simple, blending neutral tones with artisanal touches to create a cozy yet refined atmosphere. Four-poster beds add a luxurious flare. The on-site restaurant serves fresh, colorful dishes that embody Bahian flavors, while a beautiful wooden pool deck beckons relaxation in the sunshine.

Ideal for: Barefoot luxury, beachfront retreats, raw tropical nature.

Pousada Tutabel is well-matched to travelers who prefer a more intimate, boutique experience, offering an alternative to the larger resort-style stay of the Fasano Trancoso. We love the spacious, newly renovated Sapoti and Tutabel suites in the main house, which grant guests the luxury of beachfront access. Situated a little further back from the sand, Villa Rio do Brasil is a wonderful choice for extra space and seclusion. The private house features living and dining spaces, a kitchen, and an outdoor area with a swimming pool, gazebo, hammocks and sun loungers—a great set up for families.

A serious approach to regenerative tourism is another element of Pousada Tutabel’s appeal. Next door to the property, a 975-hectare environmental reserve preserves the first river mapped by the Portuguese in 1500, the Rio do Brasil. The Private Natural Heritage Reserve (RPPN) is a top attraction in Trancoso and is owned by the same creators as the hotel, allowing guests unique access.
