Rosewood São Paulo

São Paulo, Atlantic Forest

Rosewood São Paulo sits at the intersection of history, art and great design in the heart of the city, housed within the historic area of Matarazzo. This complex of 20th century buildings has been elegantly transformed into a cultural and gastronomic hub, infused with natural beauty. The Rosewood breathes new life into the former Matarazzo Maternity Hospital and occupies the striking 15-floor Mata Atlântica Tower, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect, Jean Nouvel.

The hotel’s design is a love letter to Brazilian style. Over 450 permanent works from more than 50 Brazilian artists and artisans are displayed throughout the hotel, from the ground-level leafy garden to the maximum-comfort guest rooms and rooftop pool’s floor. You can’t go wrong with the Rosewood’s varied dining concepts. Don’t miss Blaise’s Brazilian-French fusion served in an ambient wooden chalet, sitting out on Taraz’s wide open outdoor terrace, and cocktail hour with live music at Rabo di Galo jazz club – look up to be delighted by an illustrated night-sky ceiling from artist Cabelo Cobra Coral.

Ideal for: Art lovers, architectural gem, design-forward

  • Why we love it
  • Highlights
  • Positive Impact

Rosewood São Paulo is hands down the best hotel in the city—arguably the country. Every corner, from the rooms and hallways to even the elevators, is adorned with breathtaking artwork, showcasing Brazilian talent and heritage. The hotel’s restaurants are equally impressive, offering world-class dining experiences that perfectly complement its luxurious ambiance. For an extraordinary stay, the penthouse is unparalleled, delivering a level of exclusivity and sophistication that redefines urban luxury. Whether you’re drawn to its art, dining, or design, Rosewood São Paulo promises a next level experience.

Rosewood São Paulo’s design draws from Brazil’s rich cultural diversity, with materials exclusively sourced locally and interiors crafted by Brazilian artisans under the artistic direction of Philippe Starck. The meticulous restoration of the historic Matarazzo Maternity building used durable dolomitic marble from southern Brazil, preserving its architectural legacy.

The property’s innovative Mata Atlântica Tower, designed by Pritzker Prize-winner Jean Nouvel, features a vertical garden with 250 towering native trees, contributing to a biodiversity program aimed at restoring the flora and fauna of the Mata Atlântica rainforest. As part of Cidade Matarazzo, the project is recognized as one of Brazil’s greenest developments and the country’s largest recycling initiative, built entirely with local and reclaimed materials.

Through its Rosewood Sustains program, the hotel embraces circular hospitality by minimizing environmental impact and protecting natural resources for future generations. Complementing this is Rosewood Empowers, which fosters equal opportunities by prioritizing local hiring, sourcing, and community partnerships.
