The Cerrado biome is a sprawling, biodiverse landscape that spans much of central Brazil. It’s a land of open plains, twisting rivers, and rocky outcrops, home to jaguars, giant anteaters, and vibrant birdlife.
In Goiás and Brasília, the Cerrado spreads across valleys and plateaus. Head out hiking and wildlife spotting at Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park, and visit the towering cliffs and verdant trails of Chapada dos Guimarães for dramatic views and waterfall swimming.
Further south in Bonito, the Cerrado gives way to pristine rivers, limestone caves, and colorful fish. Snorkeling and diving in the clear waters here is like stepping into a natural aquarium.
