 Where to Go

Nestled in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, Alter do Chão—often called the “Caribbean of the Amazon”—is a riverside gem in the state of Pará. Here, freshwater beaches stretch along the crystal-clear Rio Tapajós, one of the largest tributaries of the Amazon River, creating an idyllic, tropical escape. Picture exploring this lush natural wonder by private boat, where the low pH keeps mosquitoes at bay, letting you take in the views in the open air. Connect with local indigenous communities to learn age-old survival techniques and the secrets of rainforest medicinal herbs, before unwinding on the soft, white sand beaches that line this magical part of the Amazon.

For an otherworldly adventure, head to Lençóis Maranhenses, a stunning natural wonder on Brazil’s remote northeastern coast. This protected ecosystem boasts an endless expanse of rolling sand dunes punctuated by turquoise freshwater lagoons, a scene that’s spectacular at sunrise and sunset. Perfect for hiking, off-roading in 4x4s, horseback riding, or simply swimming in the clear lagoons, Lençóis Maranhenses is equally magical after dark, offering pristine stargazing thanks to its secluded location and lack of light pollution. The contrast of white sand and shimmering blue water makes every moment feel like stepping into another reality.

This biodiverse wetland is one of the best places on Earth for intimate encounters with the elusive jaguar, where these magnificent big cats, habituated to human presence, roam wild and free. Guided by expert trackers, you’ll follow signs of their presence—footprints, calls, and wildlife activity—while immersing yourself in a rich ecosystem teeming with life. Beyond the thrill of spotting one of the world’s most powerful predators, the experience deepens your understanding of the fragile Pantanal and the vital conservation efforts working to protect its incredible biodiversity.
